Swannanoa Valley Christian Ministry is a team of committed Christian churches, staff and volunteers working together with the community, in response to God's call to provide vital services for our neighbors in need, both residents of the Swannanoa Valley and stranded travelers. It is located at 101 N Ridgeway Ave. in Black Mountain. It is open Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. You can reach them at (828) 669-9404.
Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry creates opportunities for churches to work in collaboration and cooperation to serve the critical needs of their neighbors. It is a coalition of 277 area congregations and over 4600 volunteers that respond to emergency assistance needs in Asheville and Buncombe County for families in poverty, those incarcerated, the homeless and the uninsured. It is located at 30 Cumberland Avenue, Asheville and its telephone number is (828) 259-5300.
Mountain Area Pregnancy Services is there to help those facing an unplanned pregnancy. Its services, offered free of charge, are provided by licensed medical professionals and trained volunteers. It also offers pregnancy tests, limited ultrasounds to confirm pregnancy, referrals to community resources, and help after abortion and/or miscarriage. It gives one-on-one care and someone to talk to about your personal situation and the options available to you. It is located at 1710 Old Haywood Road in Asheville and open Mondays 10am-5pm; Tuesdays-Thursdays 9am-5pm; Fridays 9am-2pm. Its telephone number is (828) 252-1306.
Highlands Presbytery is a fellowship of some 30 congregations in the Presbyterian Church in America. It extends from Morganton to Murphy in North Carolina, and as far into Tennessee as Elizabethton. It was formerly known as Western Carolina Presbytery.
